We believe that every pet deserves a shot at a quality life and a loving family. That's why we launched VSCares. Every quarter, we sponsor a different rescue or shelter pet by donating financial support up to $400. All sponsored/featured pets will appear on our Facebook page, www.fb.com/animalsurgeons. Our financial support will go toward medical costs incurred and/or will cover the cost of that pet's adoption fee.
Quarter 2: Crystal
Meet Crystal, a beautiful 3-year-old Thai Ridgeback who was our #VSCares sponsored pet for Quarter 2 of 2017. As part of our support for the local animal rescue community, VSC has sponsored Crystal's adoption fees, so when she finds her furever family they can take her home for free.
This sweet girl had a rough start in life. She was rescued from the illegal meat trade in Thailand and is one of Rural Dog Rescue's longest residents.
Here's their write-up: "Crystal is full of love! This goofy girl is friendly and aims to please. She is smart and has already learned sit, stay, place and heel. She loves to play fetch and enjoys her toys too. She's a very wary of strangers, especially men. However, once you give her a little space and time, she warms up to each person. Once she is ready to welcome you into her world, she is very friendly and affectionate. She definitely needs some space and time to get to know you and transition to a new situation. Just wait for her to come to you. She isn't food motivated so training is a bit more complicated. However, she knows the basics, is super smart, and likes shrimp as a training tool! She also loves playing with squeaky toys. I think she would do best in a home with outdoor space. She loves being outside on walks, and when she's inside, she spends most of her time looking out the window. She's been a pleasure to foster, and I know when she finds her permanent home, she'll be covering her new family in kisses for years to come. She would make a great running companion and also loves to relax at home with her people. This bright girl will do well with someone who has experience as the pack leader. We want to set all our dogs up for success -- with Crystal, we can offer a foster-to-adopt trial period with insight from our trainer who has worked extensively with her. We will be there for you every step of the way should you have questions. Crystal is house trained and crate trained. She needs someone to enforce what she's learned with crate training during a transition. She is not good with cats or kids and will growl if a dog comes near her.
If you or someone you know is interested in meeting Crystal email foster@ruraldogrescue.com or visit http://www.ruraldogrescue.com/ for more info.
Thanks to the wonderful team at Rural Dog Rescue for taking great care of this special dog.
Good luck, Crystal!
