It is with great pleasure and pride that we announce the newest addition to our VSC Leesburg surgical team, Dr. Brian Sutherland, DVM, has achieved Diplomate status as a board-certified small animal surgeon from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.

A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, Brian Sutherland received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University Veterinary Medicine in Raleigh. He completed a one-year small animal rotating internship at Michigan State University, followed by a surgery internship at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center. In 2015, he completed his three-year surgical residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During his academic career, his primary research focus was wound healing/biofilm inhibition, as well as kidney transplants. His clinical areas of interest are minimally invasive surgery (arthroscopy, laparoscopy, and thoracoscopy) and reconstructive surgery.
